Donating to Schools
A little bit about how we make a percentage of our
post tax profits available for donating to schools

We've seen first hand what happens in under resourced schools and feel that any donation, large or small, can be put to good use within schools. Having worked in struggling schools ourselves and having an attachment to teaching in general allows us to see first hand what a difference a little help can make. We're sure we all agree that some schools are under resourced and that any extra help would be well received. To this point, we are making a percentage of our post tax profits available for donating to schools.

The process to be awarded the grant is relatively simple. After our end of year tax returns have been processed, we'll let our school members know the amount of grant that is available for donation through our website in the members area or on the homepage. Providing your school meets the requirements for the grant*, you will be invited to put forward a proposal, consisting of a draft outline of what the funds will be used for which will be followed up with a telephone discussion, should your proposal meet the short-list**. Once all proposals have been received, UKTS will decide which school (or schools, depending on what funding is available) will be eligible for the grant and will contact the successful schools directly. Funds will be delivered in the form of a cheque, in time for the start of the new school year in September.

* The requirements for the grant application:

  • Donations are only available to school members with an operational membership.
  • Only government funded schools and registered charities may apply (to allow for gift aid status).
  • Only one application, per school, per year, will be considered.

** Short-listed schools will be listed as follows:

  • The first 20 proposals within the application period will be read and assessed.
  • The top 5 proposals, as decided by UK Teaching Staff, will be contacted to discuss the proposal in more detail.
  • The top proposal, as decided by UK Teaching Staff, will be contacted and a cheque to the amount advertised.

The small print

  • Application for the grants and donations are based on a per school basis.
  • UK Teaching Staff does not guarantee to donate the grant to your school, until you get written confirmation that you are the winner of the grant.
  • Decision of where the grant is to be awarded is made by UK Teaching Staff; it is final and will not be disputed.
  • Grants/donations are only available in years where the company makes a post tax profit.
